Life doesn’t come with a map — we all carry a mix of experiences. Some leave gentle marks, others leave a lasting weight, and their ripple through our lives can shape how we feel, relate, and navigate even the smallest moments each day.

These experiences can shape our sense of safety, how we respond to challenges, and the intensity of our emotions — sometimes in ways others may not see or understand. They can influence relationships, confidence, decision-making, and what we believe about ourselves and what we are capable of.

You don’t need to have had these experiences to benefit from therapy. Many people come when life feels difficult in other ways — taking important decisions, balancing work and personal life, navigating challenging relationships, or managing stress from recent events. Therapy can help you make sense of what’s happening, notice patterns, and develop ways of responding that feel supportive, empowering, and aligned with the life you want to live.

Our bodies often store experiences alongside our thoughts and emotions. Tension, posture, and physical sensations can hold memories and emotions long after the events themselves. Using trauma-informed counselling, EMDR, hypnotherapy, and somatic awareness, we work together to process these experiences, releasing emotions and tension, and helping you respond to life with greater ease and presence.

Counselling

Counselling is a space to reflect on how your past and present experiences shape your emotions, behaviours, and relationships. We often adapt unconsciously to fit in or meet expectations, sometimes in ways that no longer serve us. Therapy helps uncover these patterns, understand their impact, and explore new ways of responding that feel authentic and empowering. Sessions are typically 50–60 minutes and provide dedicated time to focus on your experiences and the situations you are navigating.

Counselling can support you in:

  • Understanding recurring emotional or relational patterns

  • Navigating life transitions, work challenges, or relationship difficulties

  • Building confidence, resilience, and self-trust

  • Processing grief, loss, or difficult experiences

  • Exploring responses to challenges, stress, or change

  • Developing greater emotional balance and wellbeing

  • Exploring adoption-related experiences

Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy is a practical tool to support change — whether that’s managing stress, emotions, or behaviours you no longer want. Using gentle relaxation and visualization, hypnotherapy accesses the subconscious mind to support therapeutic change. It can be effective for anxiety, stress, phobias, smoking cessation, weight management, IBS, pain management, and improving sleep. Unlike stage hypnosis, hypnotherapy is collaborative and designed for lasting, practical change.

Through hypnotherapy, you may:

  • Reduce stress or tension in daily life

  • Process past or recent experiences with less emotional intensity

  • Build confidence and resilience

  • Shift behaviours, habits, or fears that no longer serve you

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)

EMDR is a gentle, evidence-based approach that helps process experiences that continue to influence your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. Guided bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements, supports the brain’s natural processing, helping memories or experiences that once triggered strong reactions become easier to manage. EMDR also works with the body, releasing tension and emotional weight held in muscles, posture, and the nervous system, allowing you to respond to life with more calm, agency, and clarity. Sessions usually last 60–90 minutes and can be integrated when we feel it’s the right step, always with discussion and agreement beforehand.

EMDR can help you:

  • Work through past or recent experiences that continue to affect daily life

  • Process difficult emotions safely and gently

  • Build confidence, resilience, and self-awareness

  • Feel more in control and grounded in everyday situations

  •

Through therapy, the focus is on connecting experiences with patterns, noticing what no longer serves you, and discovering ways of responding that feel empowering and aligned with the life you want to live.

Starting therapy doesn’t mean having all the answers — it’s about creating a space to understand yourself, make sense of your experiences, and find approaches that truly support you. I would be honoured to walk alongside you as you explore your path forward.
